This seminar deals with spin-related phenomena in solid state physics.

The focus of the seminar will be on
1. spin dynamics in paramagnetic and exchange coupled systems
2. spin mechanics
3. spin currents and spin pumping


All topics have substantial overlap with magnetism-related research activities at the WMI and the TUM physics department. Seminar talks can be given either in English or in German.

The seminar is relevant for the special courses on "Magnetism and Spintronics". It is suitable for bachelor and master students in the 6. semester and higher.

 

(Spin-abhängige Effekte in Festkörpern stehen im Fokus dieses Seminars. Dabei sollen einerseits spin-kalorische Phänomene diskutiert werden, also der Spin- bzw. Ladungstransport in Proben, die einem Temperaturgradienten ausgesetzt sind. Andererseits werden wir uns mit Spindynamik und Spin-Strömen bzw. dem Spin-Pumpen-Effekt beschäftigen. Der Spin-Pumpen-Effekt erlaubt die Erzeugung reiner Spintröme, die für die Grundlagenforschung und für Spin-Elektronik sehr interessant sind.)
