Dr. Edwar Xie
Edwar Xie was member of the Gross group as a Master and Ph.D. Student between 2012 and 2019.
Master Thesis: Epitaxie und Charakterisierung von dünnen Schichten des ferromagnetischen Isolators Y3Fe5O12 (2013)
Ph.D. Thesis: A Scalable 3D Quantum Memory (2019)
In his Ph.D. thesis, Eqwar Xie was working on superconducting quantum circuits. Quantum computing based on superconducting circuits is on the cusp of being the supreme technology as compared to digital computing. However, the advantageous resources over digital computing, such as quantum superposition states and entanglement, also pose a challenge on the memories for such states due to quantum mechanical restrictions. Therefore, he experimentally studied such a memory. He found that his device offers a fast readout capability simultaneously with a cavity enhanced coherence time.
He left WMI in June 2019 to join Infineon Technologies.
