- Alumnus/Alumna: Quantum Systems
- Alumnus/Alumna: Nanomechanical Systems
Matthias Pernpeinntner was member of the Gross group as a Master and Ph.D. student between 2011 and 2016.
Master Thesis: Magnon-Phonon Coupling in Ferromagnetic Thin Films (2012)
Ph.D. Thesis: Nanomechanical Hybrid Systems (2016)
In his Ph.D. thesis, Matthias Pernpeintner was fabricating and characterizing nanomechanical resonators interacting with magnetic or electrical degrees of freedom. He fabricated and characterized tensile stressed silicon nitride and aluminium nanobeams and analyzed the mechanics of multilayer nanobeams theoretically and experimentally. Besides, he realized a magnetomechanical hybrid system allowing for the investigation of magnetostriction in thin films, study circuit electromechanics with pure silicon nitride and aluminium nanobeams, and showed first steps towards experiments in the quantum regime.
After leaving WMI, he joined RF360 Europe GmbH (A Qualcomm - TDK Joint Venture).
