Florian Fesquet was a member of the Gross group at WMI as a Master's and Ph.D. Student between 2019 and 2025.
Master's Thesis: Experimental Implementation of a Quantum Key Distribution with Squeezed Microwaves (2020)
Ph.D. Thesis: Demonstration of Microwave Single-Shot Quantum Key Distribution (2025)
In his Ph.D. thesis, Florian Fesquet realized a secure quantum network in the microwave range. On the one hand, he has made fundamental theoretical assessments that were still lacking at the beginning of his work. On the other hand, he has conducted systematic experiments and made important technical developments for the practical implementation of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) in the microwave range. He was able to realize microwave-based single-shot QKD for the first time and derived clear prospects for the realization of QKD over an (open air) link between two antennas.
He left WMI in July 2025 to join Alice & Bob in Paris.
