- Alumnus/Alumna: Quantum Systems
- Alumnus/Alumna: Thin Film Technology
Karl-Friedrich Wulschner was member of the Gross group at WMI as a Master and Ph.D. student between 2010 and 2016.
Master Thesis: Nb/AlOx/Nb Josephson-Kontakte für supraleitende Quantenschaltkreise (2011)
Ph.D. Thesis: Controlled Interactions in Superconducting Quantum Circuits (2016)
Karl-Friedrich Wulschner was working on the fabrication of superconducting quantum circuits and the realization of a controlled coupling in circuit QED systems. He realized the electrical design and measurements of transmon type qubits, which were coupled to superconducting resonators. Furthermore, he investigated the controllable coupling of superconducting microwave resonators via an rf SQUID. Finally, he analyzed the interaction and entanglement of a microwave resonator with a nano-mechanical beam via an rf SQUID.
He left WMI in March 2016 to join the Aspelmeyer group at the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna, as a postdoctoral researcher.
