In his Ph.D. thesis, Luis Flacke was studying the dynamics of spin systems and the formation of complex spin textures such as skyrmions in thin film heterostructures. He used Co25Fe75 alloy-based thin-film heterostructures to investigate static and dynamic properties of the spin structure. In particular, he investigated the various mechanisms that contribute to the damping of magnetization spin dynamics in order to further optimize spin wave propagation. Furthermore, he could conform the formation and stability of magnetic skyrmions in Pt/CoFe/Ir multilayers. His findings show that Co25Fe75 films represent a promising platform in the field of magnonic and skyrmionic due to its low magnetic damping and high saturation magnetization.
He left WMI in December 2021 to join the company brainboost at Munich.
